Abstract

This work presents an ontology for cervical cancer that is positioned in the center of a research system for conducting association studies. The ontology aims at providing a unified "language" for various heterogeneous medical repositories. To this end, it contains both generic patient-management and domain-specific concepts, as well as proper unification rules. The inference scheme adopted is coupled with a procedural programming layer in order to comply with the design requirements.
