Abstract

Nowadays, knowledge is recognized as an important enterprise resource. Thus, knowledge management is perceived as a necessary management task. Process oriented knowledge management is an approach that aligns knowledge management with the requirements of knowledge intensive processes. However, existing approaches to the implementation of process oriented knowledge management either operate on a very high abstraction level, incorporating much effort for operationalization in practice or on a very detailed level concentrating on process modelling. This paper introduces the STAPS method for the process oriented analysis and implementation of knowledge management solutions. It allows the assessment of already existing knowledge management solutions, the adoption of new solutions based on best practises, and a tailoring to organizational needs. In a case study, the applicability of STAPS is proved.
