Abstract
In this paper, a functional implementation of a semantic interface for a resource constrained, battery operated wireless sensor is presented. The concept is demonstrated by a home greenhouse application where the semantic interface is applied to moisture sensors which are connected to a database. The solution is based on M3 architecture for Smart Spaces. The paper discusses the enabling technologies that make the semantic messaging more viable for resource constrained devices. Performance figures concerning power consumption, battery duration and memory consumption are presented along with ideas for further development.
