Abstract
The learning function has grown and matured considerably in recent years, and evolved into a strategic support function. Companies continue to invest in organizational learning and development, but rarely possess data to assess the results of this investment. Most companies use the Kirkpatrick/Phillips model to evaluate enterprise training. However, it emerges from the literature that enterprises have difficulties in using this model. In this paper, we propose an approach based on analysing and modelling the training needs to ensure the alignment between training activities and enterprise business objectives. It allows training project monitoring as well as the calculation of tangible and intangible benefits of training (without added cost). Furthermore, it enables the production of a classification of training projects according to criteria relevant to the enterprise. Our approach can be used to optimize the training yield by a series of simulations based on machine learning algorithms.
