Abstract

Increasing energy efficiency for a single system or data center is gaining much interest among IT operators and researchers. There has been lots of research focused on improving energy efficiency by analyzing existing systems and proposing a new system architecture. The most fundamental part of improving energy efficiency is to accurately and efficiently measure the power consumed by the servers. In this paper, we model the power consumption of a single server with resource utilization considering two factors, DVFS and thermal effect.
