Abstract

In this paper, a linear quadratic (LQ) control law combined with a multimodel approach is designed for variable-speed, variable-pitch wind turbines. The presented technique is based on an optimal control method in order to improve the system global dynamic. A set of linear local models (sub-models) is then defined for different operating points corresponding to high wind speeds. Thereafter, a global asymptotic stability analysis is developed by solving a bilinear matrix inequality (BMI) feasibility problem based on the local stability of the sub-models.
