Abstract

Most previous research in the intelligent buildings have proposed the controlling systems that can change building environmental conditions automatically in order to save energy consumption and also to increase an occupant’s satisfaction. Decreasing energy consumption and increasing occupant comfort are important factors to indicate an intelligent building’s performance because it is a particular way to improve productivity resulting in the business benefits. By applying agent technology, an intelligent building control system provides a practical application that can minimize energy consumption levels, while keeping a satisfying response to an occupant’s comfort. This paper proposes an abstract extended-EDA (Epistemic-Deontic-Axiologic) model which is enhanced capability in order to make decision under norms: obligations, permissions and prohibitions. The model is represented in terms of an individual agent that is prepared for the multi-agent system of intelligent building control. The multi-agent system is proposed to combine the comfort condition control with an energy saving strategy.
